FirstService Residential, the leading residential property management company in Greater Vancouver, recently held its largest educational seminar for strata council members to date. Held on April 30th in the theatre of UBC Robson Square in Vancouver, the complimentary seminar was hosted exclusively for strata council clients on the topic of short-term rentals in strata corporations. Company representatives were present to welcome nearly 150 guests representing more than 100 strata corporations across Greater Vancouver.

The seminar was led by two strata experts: Sean Ingraham, the Managing Broker for FirstService Residential, and Veronica Franco, Partner at Clark Wilson LLP. The discussion focused on the short-term rental trend facing strata corporations across the Lower Mainland, while also addressing rental restrictions and strategies for council members to manage tenants while building a positive culture at their respective properties.

“We are delighted about the record turnout at our most recent seminar,” said Max Gajdel, FirstService Residential B.C. Manager of Business Development. “We strive to be the trusted advisor for our clients and education is a key component in serving owners. Our seminar series is a complimentary value-add exclusive to our clients that provides them with the tools they need to make informed decisions while better understanding what it means to live in a strata community.”

Since launching its educational series in 2013, the company continues to hold regular seminars for the strata councils it serves. The evening events include a networking reception followed by an open discussion where guests have the opportunity to learn from strata specialists on a variety of topics. Past seminars have included lectures on a variety of topics, including: organic waste requirements, the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT), and changes to the Limitation Act.
