KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Nov 28, 2017) --- FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in Kansas City, is hosting an active shooter response training session for homeowner association board members on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Café Trio located at 4558 Main Street in Kansas City. Sergeant Steven Schramm of the Kansas City Police Department will headline the free event -- “Safety & Security in Associations: Active Shooter Response” -- to address preemptive and response procedures in the face of an active shooting incident.
 
According to the U.S. gun violence archive, more than 54,000 gun-related incidents have been recorded in 2017, accounting for 14,000 deaths. Committed to creating safer communities, FirstService Residential asked Sgt. Schramm, who will be joined by local attorney Rod Hoffman of Martin-Pringle to speak with community members about emergency preparedness and response plans, security and risk assessments, and immediate actions to take during a shooting.
