TORONTO (September 6, 2017) -- FirstService Residential, Ontario’s leading residential property management company, is hosting a free seminar for condominium corporation board members to examine the impact of new condominium legislation and rising wages across Ontario on community budgets and fiscal operations. The event will be held on September 13, 2017 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Encore Condos in Toronto.

“Ontario’s condominium industry is experiencing massive change with the introduction of the Protecting Condominium Owner’s Act and anticipated rising minimum wages across the province. These factors are making it more complicated for condominium board members to create long-term, strategic plans and budgets as a result,” said Todd Cooper, president of FirstService Residential Ontario. “The dynamic nature and legal demands of our condominium market can be overwhelming to the volunteer board member who simply wants to do what’s best for his or her community. We pulled together a group of industry experts to help educate them on these recent developments and ultimately arm them with the topical knowledge, insight and support to make the right decisions.”

The discussion will be led by FirstService Residential’s Gene Lewis, director of business development, Tania Haluk, vice president of high rise management and Suneel Gupta, director of energy and sustainability. Special guest Denise Lash of Lash Condo Laws, will focus on new legislation in Ontario and the impact on budgets and strategic planning for condominium board members.

“We host regular education seminars on important issues affecting board members so we can help these individuals navigate their role on the board as well as their responsibility to their community,” remarked Lewis. “We believe an informed board is a better board.”
