FirstService Residential Minnesota Gives Grant to Three Rivers Park District Foundation
FirstService Residential, the Twin Cities’ leading property management company, gives grant to Three Rivers Park District Foundation through the FirstService Residential Grants for Community Excellence.
The Foundation made a 2015 commitment to fund the purchase of an outreach van for a new initiative called Parks on the Go. The van will be used for education and community outreach with a special emphasis on reaching under-served and disadvantaged segments of the Park District. “Our grant of $3,000 to the Three Rivers Park District Foundation will aid in bringing the Three Rivers Park mission to a wider audience”, says Dennis, a FirstService Residential associate involved in Community Excellence.
The van is expected to be in operation in the summer of 2015, with a goal of at least 18 community events (festivals, farmers’ markets, health fairs, etc.) and 50 or more outreach activities for school-age children. The Parks on the Go van will be outfitted with displays and activities to engage people within their communities with a sampling of Three Rivers’ nature activities, cultural heritage programs, environmental art and farm education, as well as active recreational experiences.
FirstService Residential Minnesota has made a commitment to give $25,000 annually through the FirstService Residential Grants for Community Excellence in memory of Mel Gittleman. Primary interests are in the areas of health and wellness, the environment, public spaces (playgrounds, parks), and various housing and cultural organizations. The Foundation will issue grants to five-to-seven organizations in and around downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, Twin Cities metro, and suburbs.
To implement and manage the grant, FirstService Residential works with the Minneapolis Foundation to award grantees where the money will make a genuine difference, and coincides with the company’s general giving priorities in the local Minnesota communities the company serves.
